A plate camera has one job
The best plate view is often too tight and too dark for general surveillance. Pair dedicated plate capture with a separate overview camera.
Control the geometry
- Keep horizontal and vertical angles modest.
- Define the capture lane and distance.
- Account for vehicle speed.
- Avoid relying on digital zoom from a very wide view.
Plan day and night separately
Headlights, reflective plates, weather, and changing sun require testing. A model marketed for LPR still needs correct placement and settings.
